The
UCL Inspire Innovation Fund (Health) is a new internal funding scheme, evolved from the now-concluded
UCL Therapeutic Acceleration Support (TAS) Fund. This enhanced programme provides responsive and flexible funding to support translational research at the early stages of developing therapeutics, devices, diagnostics, and digital healthcare solutions.
It offers a clear pathway to follow-on funding and clinical application. Individual projects are typically funded in the range of
£20,000–£80,000 (directly incurred costs only) for
up to 9 months.
The scheme is supported by funding from the MRC Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) and UCL's three affiliated Biomedical Research Centres (BRC). These include the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) BRC, Great Ormond Street
Hospital (GOSH) BRC, and Moorfields BRC.
The scheme includes two award categories:
- SPARK – Strategic Proof and Risk Knowledge - Up to £20,000 max 4 months duration
- TRACK – Translational Readiness and Commercial Knowledge - Up to £80,000 max 9 months duration
